Delhi Police launches unique initiative to de-stress jawans in the time of Covid-19

In a unique initiative, Delhi Police has reached out to its personnel who are distressed due to personal or health issues and are providing them with handy solutions to fight the stress level.

New Delhi: As the nation battles Covid-19 outbreak, police has played no lessor role than healthcare workers in helping the nation tide over severe health crisis.

Delhi Police personnel worked on the frontline, in tandem with city doctors, in containing the highly contagious virus from spreading. This not only put them at greater physical health risk but has also amplified their stress levels.

To address this issue, Delhi Police in a unique initiative, has reached out to its personnel who are distressed due to personal or health issues and are providing them handy solutions in fighting the stress level.

Delhi Police cricket tournament --

Inter range T-20 Cricket Tournament 2020-2021, a first of its kind sporting event, has been organised with the participation of 10 teams. The brain behind this stress-buster initiative is Vimal Anand Gupta, Joint CP of Delhi Police. From inception to its successful launch, Mr Vimal Gupta kept an eye on every detail and ensured that the tournament goes off smoothly. Saumil Gupta is another person who motivated jawans and raised a group of 10 teams for participation. The initiative has been garnering good reviews and ratings, not just from audience but from those within the police force also.

In the 1st Inter Range T-20 Cricket Tournament, a total of 10 teams are participating. They have been divided into 2 groups with 5 team each. The tournament is now nearing its end, with 4 teams marking their entry into semi-finals. These 4 teams comprise 2 teams of Delhi Armed Police – Team A and Team B while another 1 team is from Delhi Traffic Police and Delhi Police PCR each.

Delhi Police cricket tournament --- G1

Semi-final will be played on October 22 & Oct 23 while final will be held on October 24.

While conducting the tournament, all Covid-19 norms like social distancing, sanitisation and thermal scanning are being adhered to strictly.

Speaking to Newsroompost.com, Vimal Anand Gupta, Joint CP-Delhi Police said that the purpose behind this cricket tournament was to mitigate the stress level of jawans.

“Jawans are doing service in extreme adverse situations, keeping themselves as well as their families at risk. Such tournaments will not only reduce their stress level but also enhance their immunity level to fight the novel Coronavirus,” he said.

He stated that tournament has been received well and duly appreciated by the families. He also didn’t rule out arranging more such cricket tournaments, owing to its grand success.
