The DU professor was questioned for 5 hours in connection with Delhi riots and after that his phone was also seized by the police.

New Delhi: Delhi University (DU) professor Apoorvanand was questioned by the Delhi Police Special Cell on Monday, in connection with the violent riots that broke out in North-East Delhi in February this year.

The DU professor was questioned for 5 hours and after that his phone was also seized by the police.

Apoorvanand, in a statement issued on Tuesday said, “I was asked by the Special Cell, Delhi Police, to appear before it in the investigation into FIR no 59/20 related to the violence that happened in North-East Delhi in February 2020. I spent five hours there. The Delhi Police also considered it necessary to seize my phone for the purpose of investigation.”

He also said that it is disturbing to see a theory emerging which treats the supporters of the protestors as the source of violence.

The deadly violence that broke out in the national capital resulted in loss of 53 lives while many were rendered homeless.
