New Delhi: In yet another shocking incident in the national capital, a minor girl has been beaten to death for allegedly spurning the marriage offer by her lover.
The incident happened in Begampur region of Rohini on Friday evening.
According to the Delhi Police, the 17-year-old girl was allegedly bludgeoned to death with a hammer by Laik after he visited her house. 25-year-old man identified as Laik hit her with a hammer.
The suspect identified as Laik is on the run after the incident.
The victim’s kin had gone to fetch some grocery items from the market at the time of the incident. Later, Laik bolted the door from outside and fleed from the spot.
Girl’s parents rushed their daughter to a nearby hospital but she was declared dead on arrival.
Reports suggest that the accused Laik was known to girl’s family members and he used to visit her residence.
“Both the suspect and the victim’s families were neighbours in Bawana. One year back the girl’s family had shifted to Begampur. However, the suspect in the case kept visiting the family. We have constituted several teams to arrest Laik,” said P.K. Mishra, DCP Rohini.
A murder case has been registered at the Begumpur police station and further investigation is on.
