Ex-BJP leader Eknath Khadse joins Sharad Pawar’s NCP

After joining NCP, Eknath Khadse said, “In spite of serving the party [BJP] for 40 years, what I got was an ACB inquiry and a case of molestation. Even my seniors in Delhi suggested me to join NCP. There are many senior leaders in BJP who want to speak out but can’t.”

New Delhi: Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Eknath Khadse on Friday joined the National Congress Party (NCP) on Friday in the presence of party chief Sharad Pawar in Mumbai.

After joining NCP, the six-time MLA said, “In spite of serving the party [BJP] for 40 years, what I got was an ACB inquiry and a case of molestation. Even my seniors in Delhi suggested me to join NCP. There are many senior leaders in BJP who want to speak out but can’t.”

“I was told that if I change my party, they will put the ED behind me. I said if you put ED (behind me), I will play (your) CD,” Khadse added.

Earlier this week, Khadse snapped ties with BJP and held Fadnavis responsible for the move.

“I will join the NCP on October 23. The then CM (Devendra Fadnavis) instructed the police to register an FIR against me on a false allegation of harassment by a woman. He said the case would be withdrawn later. A corruption inquiry was initiated against me in which I came clean. I suffered a lot in the BJP,” Khadse said.

Earlier in the day, Maharashtra BJP president Chandrakant Patil had accepted the resignation of Eknath Khadse and wished him all the best for joining a new party.
