Ex-IPS officer Rajiv Ranjan makes foray in politics, joins BJP in presence of Bihar unit chief

The DANICs officer recently retired from the service after serving the police force for more than three decades. During his stint as an IPS officer, Mr Rajiv Ranjan achieved many exceptional feats and maintained a flawless & immaculate record.

New Delhi: Rajiv Rajan, a retired and decorated IPS officer of the Delhi cadre, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday, in presence of Bihar BJP President Sanjay Jaiswal and PWD minister Nitin Naveen.

Bihar BJP leaders welcomed the former IPS officer into party with open hands and wished him a bright & fulfilling political career.

Mr Rajiv Ranjan, speaking to the press, said that he was elated over beginning of a new career and vowed to devote his time & life to the unprivileged & downtrodden class. He said that now onwards, he wants to serve the land & place that gave him so much in life.

The officer, known for his penchant for the fast disposal of cases, has been honoured with President’s medal.

Being a native of Chapra district, Mr Rajiv Ranjan got his school education in Bihar and moved to Delhi for further studies. He completed Graduation & Post-graduation from Delhi University. 1979 was a glorious year in his life as cleared the Civil Services Examination (UPSC) and became an IPS officer.

During his three-decade career, he led many departments including Investigation, Law & Order and Intelligence wing and did some excellent work, earning many accolades & applause from the government as well as the public. The high point of his career came when he was awarded President’s medal for exceptional work in the Police department.
