The quick delivery promise relies on a dense finishing stations’ network, which is located in close proximity to high-demand customer neighbourhoods.

The finishing stations will house best seller items from various restaurants. The food delivery platform said the new model is inspired by Blinkit and other grocery delivery service platforms. Compare to them, Zomato said it is too slow. ”If we don’t make it obsolete, someone else will,” read the Zomato statement.

The company will begin the pilot project in Gurugram by setting up four such station.

Notably, this is said to be the first of its kind initiative in the world.

In the instant delivery service, Zomato said kitchen preparation time will be between 2 to 4 minutes; the average distance travelled to be between 1 to 2 kilometers. The average time travelled has been decided between 3 to 6 minutes.

Zomato answers why 10-minute food delivery service

Zomato said it started the service based on its consumers’ behaviours. It said that ”sorting restaurants by fastest delivery time is one of the most used features” on the app. It also added, ”They (customers) don’t want to plan, and they don’t want to wait.”
