Fact check: Govt debunks fake news of providing alcohol pipeline

A post is going viral claiming that the Indian government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to supply alcohol through a pipeline.

New Delhi: On the internet, a post is going viral claiming that the Indian government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to supply alcohol through a pipeline. However, the nodal agency of the Indian government, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) debunked the claim on Twitter that the government has not taken any such decision.

The viral post also said those who want a connection can get it by submitting a demand draft of Rs 11,000 with an application to the Prime Minister’s office. The post further read the pipeline will be connected to the house after the review process that will start one month after submitting the application.

According to the post, the bill will come as per the usage of the pipeline. Debunking the claim, the PIB shared a post on Twitter with a photo of Nana Patekar and wrote, ”Chill guys, Don’t get your hopes too high.”
