Farm laws protest: Congress MP manhandles woman scribe, snatches mike; video is viral

Apparently cornered over questions on farm laws, Congress MP Jasbir Dimpa snatched female reporter’s mike, manhandled her and even forcefully took the memory card of camera that recorded the incident.

New Delhi: Amidst the ongoing farmers protest over recently legislated Agricultural laws, political parties have jumped into the fray to score political points. Though, Congress and AAP have both supported reforms in agricultural laws including amendments in APMC, they have been attacking the Centre over what they claim it to be anti-farmer legislation.

Some Congress leaders were protesting at Jantar Mantar in Delhi to support farmers protests on Tuesday. However, this witnessed an ugly turn as Congress MP Jasbir Dimpa roughed up a woman journalist Chandanpreet Kaur of Raonuk Punjab Dee TV (RPD 24).

Apparently cornered over questions on farm laws, the Congress MP first snatched her mike, manhandled her and even forcefully took the memory card of camera that recorded the incident.

Narrating the ordeal towards the second half of the video, woman journalist said that Dimpa’s team did not allow them to leave the site without getting access to the recorded video.

What happened at Jantar Mantar?

On December 22, RPD 24 reporter Chandanpreet Kaur went to Jantar Mantar to interview Congress leader Ravneet Bittu, MP from Ludhiana. When she reached the location, Bittu was not available. Kaur said that she asked MP Jasbir Dimpa about Bittu’s whereabouts, to which he replied that she should talk to him first, reported OpIndia.

Kaur asked him why farmers have no trust left in any political party and everyone is just doing vote bank politics. Dimpa got irked by the question and asked Kaur to question those who are responsible for the mistrust and not him. Suddenly the situation heated up and the Congress MP stood up to snatch the camera and mike, reported the portal.
