Farmers to end protest as Govt accepts almost all demands; ‘letter received from Centre’, say Sources

Farmers Protest To End: Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said the bills were meant to benefit the farmers, but they couldn’t be convinced “despite our best efforts”.

New Delhi: Farmers are all set to end their protest as Centre has accepted all the demands. According to sources, the government has given written assurance to the protesting farmers regarding their demands – which include guarantees for MSP – will be met.

The letter also said that the Centre will form a committee on MSP. It has also said that all police cases, including those to do with stubble burning, will be dropped.

The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) have confirmed the same and said that the latter has agreed to the pending demands.

A draft copy regarding their demands, which were discussed in the meeting were sent by the Centre.

Earlier on Wednesday (December 1), Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait had said that farmers’ protest will not end the protest until Centre accepts the demands .

Scrap all three farm laws:

In November, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that union government has decided to repeal the three farm laws that were passed in Parliament in 2020.

Following which, both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha passed the Farm Laws Repeal Bill on the first day of the Parliament’s winter session on November 29. President Ram Nath Kovind has also given his assent to the Bill that completes the process of repealing the three farm laws.
