First Coronavirus related casualty in Delhi Police, 32-year-old constable dies,sample tested positive

Constable Amit Kumar’s samples were taken before his death, the report of which came as positive. With the constable dying because of Covid-19 infection, his colleagues have been asked to self-isolate.

New Delhi: In the first Coronavirus-related casualty in Delhi Police, a 32-year-old constable Amit Kumar died a day after feeling uneasy, making it the first case of Covid-10 fatality in the police force.

“Yesterday he felt sick and was examined by a doctor in Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital. He was given medication and also tested for COVID-19.” said Delhi Police.

Police said he was then sent to RML Hospital in the evening where he was reported brought dead. The post mortem is yet to be conducted.

His samples were taken before his death, the report of which came as positive. With the constable dying because of Covid-19 infection, his colleagues have been asked to self-isolate.

The 32-year-old policeman was a resident of Haryana and was posted at a police station in in North West Delhi’s Bharat Nagar police station. He is survived by his child and 3-year-old son.

Delhi Police Commissioner expressed grief over the sudden demise of constable Amit Kumar and offered all support & assistance to the family.
