Domestic flights to resume operations from May 25 in "Calibrated Manner"

New Delhi: Maharashtra government is all set to ban flight and train service from Delhi to Mumbai, TV reports said citing government sources.

The state government is contemplating ban on train and flight service between metro cities, due to sudden surge in Coronavirus numbers in Delhi.

Uddhav Thackeray government may announce the guidelines in this regard in a day or two, TV report said. Maharashtra has already been among the worts affected states by Coronavirus pandemic and this decision is aimed at safeguarding itself from letting the situation go out of control again.

The decision to ban flight and train service between Delhi & Mumbai may be announced as early as by Monday. TV report further said that 2-day window may be alloted for people to ‘move in or move out’ of the city, to avoid any panic situation.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has already announced the closure of schools till December 31 in wake of Corona threat.

Covid-19 surge in Delhi

Coronavirus has suddenly witnessed surge in numbers in the national capital, with over 7,000 positive cases being reported for past one week. This is the highest Corona count, Delhi has witnessed since the outbreak of pandemic.

As per official numbers, Delhi recorded close to 7,500 cases in past 24 hours while 98 people succumbed to the disease.

Random testing on Delhi-ites commuting to Noida

Owing to rising number of Coronavirus cases in Delhi, the Uttar Pradesh has mounted its contact tracing as well as testing of samples, especially for those coming into the state from national capital.

Random testing is being conducted on commuters travelling from Delhi to Noida. UP medical teams have been deployed at DND flyover for restraining Covid infected people from entering the state. If found tested positive, they are being sent back to city for further testing and treatment.

Fight renews against Covid, door-to-door survey in Delhi

In wake of Covid-19 spike in Delhi, the state government has launched door-to-door survey from Friday. The survey will cover all 4,500-odd containment zones, as well as several areas outside containment zones, that have a high caseload.

Around 9,500 teams of government health official and civic agency employees will conduct the survey, including 3,000 such teams which are already engaged in a similar survey. It was directed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday in his meeting with Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and LG Anil Baijal.

The test will also be doubled in the capital in light of the sharp rise in Covid-19 cases.
