Food delivery in 10 minutes: Zomato gears up for ‘Instant’ service

The food delivery giant is set to launch its ultra-fast service, where food will be delivered to the customers in a 10-15 minute span of time.

New Delhi: In the already stressed food delivery industry, Zomato is planning to make it more fast & quick with its instant service. The food delivery giant is set to launch its ultra-fast service, where food will be delivered to the customers in a 10-15 minute span of time. It is already in talks with umpteen restaurant chains across the country and is aiming for a launch of ‘ultra-fast service’.

For the 10-minute food delivery service, the food delivery is mulling to set up cloud kitchens along with eating outlets & partners. The company is looking to launch the pilot project from Gurugram and it may launch trial for the same, as early as in April.

Why 10-minute food delivery?

Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal himself took to Twitter today, to outline the roadmap on how the company aims to achieve this target.

He said that the fast lifestyle is also demanding changes in the existing deliveries at the doorstep model.

“Customers are increasingly demanding quicker answers to their needs. They don’t want to plan, and they don’t want to wait. I started feeling that the 30-minute average delivery time by Zomato is too slow, and will soon have to become obsolete. If we don’t make it obsolete, someone else will,” he said.

Further revealing about customers behavioural patterns, he says that the feature on Zomato App that allows people to ‘sort restaurant by fastest delivery’ is the most used & most searched.

How will this happen?

Zomato founder also spelt out his strategy for delivering food in 10 minutes. Underlining the existing challenges, he says that nobody in the world has so far delivered hot and fresh food in under 10 minutes, yet we are eager to be the first to create this category, globally!

It claims that once the 10-minute delivery service gets in motion, it will also reduce the cost for customer. However, the restaurant partners as well as delivery partners won’t get impacted in earnings.
