New Delhi: Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has been tested Covid-19 positive. He has been admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi after undergoing test for Coronavirus.

“Former PM Manmohan Singh tests positive for COVID19, admitted to AIIMS Trauma Centre in Delhi,” said an AIIMS official.

The COVID-19 situation in India continues to deteriorate, as the country yet again reported the highest single-day spike of coronavirus cases with over 2.73 lakh fresh infections and 1,619 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Earlier, Congress leader and former PM Manmohan Singh wrote a letter to PM Modi on Sunday, suggesting 5 ways to ramp up Covid-19 vaccination efforts in the country. The veteran Congressman urged a preference of total percentage of the population that has been vaccinated instead of looking at “absolute numbers”.

Noting that India currently has vaccinated only a small fraction of its population, Singh said he is certain that with the right policy design, “we can do much better and very quickly”.
