New Delhi: The Karnataka Congress on Sunday gave a cheque of Rs 1 crore to the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) and asked it not to take bus fare from the migrant workers who are going back to their hometown from Bengaluru.
Karnataka govt had run special buses of KSRTC from Bengaluru to various parts of the state for migrants workers stranded in Bengaluru but KSRTC was first giving buses on contract booking which meant high bus tariffs but after govt’s interference, KSRTC decided for single tariff.
Now, Karnataka Congress Chief DK Shivakumar has said that they will bear the expenses of these migrant workers and have given Rs 1 cr cheque to KSRTC and if needed will give more ..
With the extended lockdown norms further relaxed, the state government has allowed the migrant workers in the cities across the southern state to return to their native place in special buses within the state and special trains to other states since Saturday.
