New Delhi: Gangster Vikas Dubey killing in encounter has sparked off flurry of questions over his death. Gangster’s killing has given enough political fodder to rivals, who have upped the ante on Yogi Adityanath government, claiming that his ‘planned encounter’ has erased the evidence of his political links.

However, in the gangster’s village, people are a happy lot. They are elated that the dreaded gangster’s identity has been wiped out from the village, thus putting an end to ‘reign of terror’.

UP don shot dead, enroute to Kanpur

Gangster Vikas Dubey was shot dead by police as he tried to flee after the car carrying him from Ujjain overturned on the outskirts of the Kanpur city. The SUV met with an accident at Bhaunti in Kanpur district, toppling on an isolated stretch of the road which was slippery after the rains.

Police said the gangster snatched a pistol from one of the policemen injured in the accident and was shot when he opened fire while trying to flee.

Six policemen, including two from the Special task Force, were hurt in the accident and the exchange of fire around 6 am, an official said.

8 policemen killed in Kanpur ambush

Eight policemen, including Deputy Superintendent of Police Devendra Mishra, had died in a hail of bullets from the rooftops in Dubey’s Bikru village in Chaubeypur area of Kanpur on July 3.On the day the Bikru ambush took place, two of Dubey’s alleged accomplices, Prem Prakash Pandey and Atul Dubey, were killed in an encounter with police in Kanpur district.
