Gujarat: 51 child labourers rescued from a warehouse in Khedbrhma

“Better coordination of child labour taskforce shows results that 51 child and adolescent labours are rescued from in Khedbhrama. We are confident that our actions will deter people from employing children,” Vipul Mittra, Additional Chief Secretary, Labour and Employment dept said.

New Delhi: In a joint operation, the Gujarat Labour and Employment Department and NGO Bachpan Bachao Andolan rescued 51 children from seeds warehouse in Khedbrhma.

The rescue team comprised of Labour department officers, CID crime (women and child cell) and Bachpan Bachao Aandolan NGO.

“Better coordination of child labour taskforce shows results that 51 child and adolescent labours are rescued from in Khedbhrama. FIRs are registered against people employing children. We are also confident that our actions will deter people from employing children,” Vipul Mittra, Additional Chief Secretary, Labour and Employment dept said.

The accused have been booked under Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986 and Juvenile Justice Act.

“The state government wants to end the practice of child labour and has taken it up. Child labour is not acceptable, and it is our collective responsibility to stop it,” Vipul Mittra said.
