Gujarat administers 1st vaccine dose to over 50% of total eligible persons

Among major states, Gujarat has been a leading state in administering vaccine jabs to people in the country, especially in ‘per million vaccinations’ rate.

New Delhi: Achieving a major milestone in vaccination drive, Gujarat has completed inoculation of over 50% of total eligible persons, the state govt said in a statement today.

The state has completed first dose of vaccination has been given to about 2.48 crore population while both doses have been administered to about 78 people, a leading portal reported citing state govt spokesperson.

This takes the total vaccination to about 3.26 crore. On Thursday, about 4.39 doses of vaccine were administered.

The state has a total of 4.93 crore eligible persons above the age of 18 years who are to be given two doses of Coronavirus vaccine.

The vaccination drive had started in Gujarat from January 16.
