Gujarat CM condoles demise of Gujarati writer & litterateur Father Valles

Father Valles was a Jesuit priest born in Spain who wrote extensively in Gujarati, English, and Spanish. He was a Mathematics teacher in Gujarat. Father Valles passed away at the age of 95 in Spain today.

New Delhi: Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani on Monday expressed grief on learning about the demise of the popular litterateur and writer Carlos Gonzales Valles, popularly known as Father Valles.

CM Rupani said, “Despite the fact that Father Valles was not a Gujarati by roots, he was instrumental in establishing his identity as a connoisseur of Gujarati language and literature through his writings. His demise has left a deep void in the Gujarati literature.”

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences over demise of veteran author and Gujarati columnist Father Carlos Gonzalez Valles SJ, popularly known as Father Valles.

“Father Valles endeared himself to many, especially in Gujarat. He distinguished himself in diverse areas such as mathematics and Gujarati literature. He was also passionate about serving society. Saddened by his demise. May his soul rest in peace,” PM Modi tweeted.
