Gujarat gears up for Covid-19 vaccination, Deputy CM hints at free vaccine to all

New Delhi: After Covishield and Covaxin got approval for emergency use, Gujarat government is gearing up for vaccination drive across the state.
Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, addressing a gathering in Dang district, said that preparations for COVID-19 vaccination have been completed in
the state we are all set and fully equipped for the drive.

In this context CM said that, soon made in India vaccine will soon be made available and vaccination process will also start.

State govt has made all necessary arrangements for this vaccination in Gujarat. Cold chain system, survey works, training to personnel for vaccinations are also been done.

Rupani said that, as the Central Government announces for Vaccination Plan State Government will also start vaccination process accordingly.

Free vaccination in 1st phase, deliberations on extending service

A day ago, Gujarat Deputy CM told newsmen that the state will get vaccines from the Centre within 2-4 days. He said that the list of first phase beneficiaries are ready and the cost of vaccination will be borne by the state government.

In first phase, health workers, front line corona warriors, people above the age of 50 years and the people below the age of 50 years with comorbidity will get the Covid19 vaccine.

Patel, who also holds the Health portfolio, said “So far, the Central government has not fixed any cost for the coronavirus vaccine. We provided treatment and medicines to lakhs of coronavirus patients free of cost in the state.”

“We have been discussing this (free vaccination) with the chief Minister from time to time that as far as possible, we shall not let the citizens bear the cost of vaccination,” he told reporters.
