New Delhi: While the high-voltage campaign for first phase of Gujarat Assembly elections comes to close today, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday released a video footage of state AAP president Gopal Italia, where the latter purportedly pokes fun at the Swaminarayan Sampradya faith & its followers.

In the undated video, AAP’s Gujarat chief allegedly makes derisive & insulting remarks on Hinduism and mocks the followers of Swaminarayan Sampradaya sect.

BJP, taking strong objection to Gopal Italia’s remarks, said that the people of Gujarat will teach them a lesson for insulting Bhagwan Swaminarayan.

BJP IT-cell chief Amit Malviya tweeted the video and said that Italia, a close confident of Arvind Kejriwal, is not just ridiculing the faith but is also calling their beliefs ‘bullshit’.

Swaminaryan Sampradaya is a highly popular spiritual community in Gujarat, dedicated to BAPS and has mass following not just in the country but across the world. Millions of Hindus in India, Gujarat in particular, and abroad abide by this faith and follow the teaching of Bhagwan Swaminarayan.

It is not the first time that Gopal Italia has found itself in the crosshairs of BJP & Hindu outfits. At earlier occasions also, he ignited row with his controversial remarks.

In one of the videos, Italia had made offensive statements against PM Modi’s mother, drawing flak & ire from BJP as well as netizens on the social media.

Gujarat is headed to two-phase elections, starting from December 1. Polls will be held in two phases on – Dec 1 & 5.

While the state has always seen BJP Vs Congress, this time, AAP has taken to the hustings with its full might & hoping to break the BJP’s winning streak, this time.
