What is controversy over Gyanvapi survey?

Last Friday, court-appointed committee was scheduled to carry out survey & videography of the mosque complex but they were blocked by mosque administration and some Muslim men who staged protest against action.

The whole controversy & court case started with five Delhi-based women filing a petition in court to perform daily worship of Hindu deities whose idols are situated on the outer walls of the mosque. Currently, only one day in the year is allotted for worship. These women pleaded in court that they be given permission to perform puja round the year.

The Court ordered videography survey of outside & inside the mosque complex to establish the veracity of claims. However, the mosque management committee denied entry of the team last Friday, claiming that court order was only for videography of outside structure.
