New Delhi: In a setback for the Muslim petitioners in Gyanvapi mosque row, the Varanasi Court on Thursday set aside demands for removal of Court Commissioner Amit Kumar Mishra over allegations of biased approach. Ajay Kumar Mishra was appointed as Court Commissioner to oversee the survey at Shringar Gauri temple-Gyanvapi mosque complex.

Earlier, the mosque management committee had opposed survey of the complex and also moved court, alleging that Ajay Mishra favoured the Hindu petitioners.

The court also ordered that Videography survey of disputed structure to be conducted before May 17. The Hindu & Muslim groups are at loggerheads over claims of Hindu religious structures inside the Gyanvapi mosque. Pictuers of Hindu idols & religious symbols also emerged strengthening the claims of Hindu factions, however, court is yet to make any observation on this.
