
New Delhi: Severe hailstorm hit four Upper Assam districts – Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Charaideo, and Sivasagar on Tuesday affecting around 132 villages.
According to reports over 4,400 houses were damaged due to this.
Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) said the severe hailstorm has partially damaged 4,481 houses and fully damaged two houses in the four districts of Assam.
This has also affected several Anganwadi centres building and school buildings were also damaged.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said due to the hailstorm houses under Moran and Tingkhang’s revenue circles have been reportedly damaged.
He said Government is extending all the possible help to all those affected by it.
