Hanuman sticker removed from HLFT-42 Aircraft; HAL Director explains why

The HLFT-2 is a leading fighter trainer, under development by the HAL. Once inducted, it will impart training to new fighter pilots in learning modern warfare techniques.

New Delhi: A day after the picture of Lord Hanuman on the tail of HLFT-42 aircraft drew lot of attention as well as adverse reactions, the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) removed the sticker from the fin of plane. The HLFT-42 was part of the ongoing Aero Show in Bengaluru.

The Aero India aviation exhibition, dubbed as Asia’s largest air show, is currently underway at Bengaluru’s Yelhanka Air Base. A lot many technologies, advance fighter jets are on display here, amid presence of aerospace, defense & military representatives.

As the HLFT-42 got captured by the cameras, it drew attention of attention of all because of a sticker of Lord Hanuman on its tail with the caption, ‘The storm is coming’.

Explaining the reason behind removal of Lord Hanuman sticker, the HAL CMD said that it was removed after internal discussion.

“We had put Lord Hanuman’s picture on it to showcase its strength but after some deliberations, we decided to withdraw it,” HAL CMD told media.

The HLFT-2 is a leading fighter trainer, under development by the HAL. Once inducted, it will impart training to new fighter pilots in learning modern warfare techniques.

The aircraft belongs to the series of HAL Marut, the first homegrown aircraft. Marut is the other name for Wind or ‘Pawan’ in Hindi.

How HLFT-42 will benefit India?

Since, it is a lightweight & multi-role combat aircraft, it will help in tactical reconnaissance missions and also in providing close air support.

Equipped with advanced avionics and weapon systems, it will do great service in performing air-to-air and air-to-ground missions.
