New Delhi: Haryana Congress President Uday Bhan stirred up major controversy on Saturday with his derogatory & disparaging remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. His snide comments against PM Modi left the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) agitated & infuriated, which in turn trained guns at him and demanded action against the ‘erring’ leader.
The Congress chief faced strong backlash not just in political circles but also on the social media, for his insulting & below the belt remarks but he remained defiant and refused to express regret or apologize for his insensitive & crass comment.
In a video that went viral, Haryana Cong chief used abusive words for PM Modi as well as state chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar, though he didn’t take name of anyone.
BJP slams ‘roadside language’ of Bhan
Following his abusive rant, a couple of BJP leaders tore into the state Congress chief and demanded that party acts against him.
BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said that Bhan’s remarks shows not just the limit of lowliness in politics and also Cong’s repeated attempts to insult & humiliate the Prime Minister by calling names.

He slammed Haryana Cong chief’s roadside language and said that ‘this was Congress venom against well-planned policy.’ Citing the example of own party MP Ramesh Bidhuri using derogatory language against BSP MP Danish Ali, he said that showcause notice was served to him but why Congress keeps mum on party leader dishing out hatred against PM Modi.
“The language used by the Haryana Congress Chief shows the perverted mindset of the Congress Party. Is this Rahul Gandhi’s house of love (Mohabat ki Dukaan). Has any opposition leader criticised this? Has the Congress asked its state chief to apologise,” former Tripura CM Biplab Deb asked on X.
Bhan refuses to apologize, calls it ‘Haryanvi slang’
Despite the matter creating leading to political furore, Bhan remained unapologetic and said that he merely used ‘Haryanvi slang’.
“What have I said that is wrong… Is this language wrong, this is normal language in Haryana. We call unmarried men by this slang in Haryana and that is not an abuse” Udai Bhan told media.
Udai Bhan, said to be loyalist member of former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda camp, was made Haryana Congress chief in 2022.
