Haryana: Irshaad Saddam jailed for cursing Mother India after India-Pak T20 match

Saddam’s arrest from Nooh district is the latest arrest in series of crackdown on people celebrating Pakistan’s victory over India in T20 match.

New Delhi: A district court in Haryana has sent a youth to jail for using abusive and highly derogatory words against the country. The youth named Irshaad alia Saddam was nabbed by the police after his video of ‘cursing Mother India’ went viral on social media and created widespread uproar.

In the video that went viral, he could be seen using abusive and filthy language for the country. He also indulged in slogan-shouting for Pakistan and called himself a Pakistani. When confronted by fellow person, he hurled expletives at the motherland. The video was purportedly recorded while he was sitting in his bookshop.

Saddam’s arrest from Nooh district of Haryana is the latest arrest in series of crackdown on people celebrating Pakistan’s victory over India in T20 match. He is said to be a resident of Katpuri village in Nuh district.

Naseem held from Jaunpur for anti-India remarks : 

Just a day ago, Mohammed Naseem, a youth from Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh was arrested for disparaging and denigrating remarks against the country. He also hurled abuses at the country and at the person who recorded his video. Naseem was nabbed by UP police a day later and was put behind bars.

Post Pakistan victory over India in the T20 World Cup match, a couple of people have landed behind bars for ‘disowning’ own nation and hailing & celebrating neighbouring country’s win.

In a couple of states, incidents of fire-bursting, slogan shouting and sharing of celebratory messages were reported following which the accused were apprehended by cops. In Uttar Pradesh, the police booked cases against 7 person for shouting slogans in support of Pakistan. Some videos of celebrating were also reported from Jammu & Kashmir.
