Heatwave: IMD issues orange alert for 5 states/ UTs after temperature cross 45 degree C; Check list here

It is said that a Western Disturbance on May 2 will bring in some relief for northwest and central India.

New Delhi:  The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange warning for heat wave in 5 states like Odisha, Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

IMD senior scientist RK Jenamani said that the maximum (day) temperatures is likely to drop only after first week of May.

The orange alert has also been issued for Delhi-NCR and the plains of northwest India over continued heatwave conditions until May 1.

MD scientist R.K. Jenamani said that there has been no significant rainfall since February 25. Also,  between, on April 14 – April 21, Rajasthan and Haryana witnessed dust storms  but there was no significant rain.

This long dry spell has resulted in high temperatures.

Also, the IMD has predicted heatwave conditions over northwest and central India during next four days and over east India during next two days and it will abate thereafter.
