High alert in Delhi ahead of Aug 15, intel sources warn of terror attack via drones

Intelligence agencies have warned that terrorists can try to attack Delhi through drones before August 15 and especially on August 5 the day Article 370 was scrapped from Jammu and Kashmir.

New Delhi: Before Independence Day Indian security agencies have sounded a high alert over a possible terror attack in the national capital. According to sources, terrorists are planning to carry out a big terrorist conspiracy in Delhi through explosives-laden drones.

Intelligence agencies have warned that terrorists can try to attack Delhi through drones before August 15 and especially on August 5 the day Article 370 was scrapped from Jammu and Kashmir.

Delhi Police has started preparations to deal with the drone attack. Delhi Police and other defence forces are training to deal with the threat of ‘drone jihad’. Training of ‘soft kill’ and ‘hard kill’ are some of the necessary skills taught to the security agencies in wake of the alert.

Delhi Police Commissioner Balaji Srivastava earlier this month directed the force to train their attention on anti-terror measures ahead of Independence Day and have asked SHOs in every district to take cognizance of any calls made to the police control room or information regarding drones in the city and investigate the threat accordingly.

4 anti-drone systems are also being installed at the historic Red Fort, from two installed last year.

The Delhi Police also conducted a citywide patrol on Sunday night with over 30,000 police personnel. Security has been intensified especially near Singhu, Tikri and Ghazipur borders where farmers have been protesting since late last year.
