Himachal Pradesh: 30-year-old tourist dies after falling while paragliding in the Dobhi region of Kullu district

A 30-year-old tourist namely Suraj Sanjay Shah from Maharashtra died after falling while paragliding in the Dobhi region of Kullu district.

New Delhi: In a heart-wrenching incident, a 30-year-old tourist from Maharashtra fell to his death during paragliding in the Dobhi area of Kullu district on Saturday.

According to people who were present at the spot said the victim fell hundreds of feet possibly due to harness failure during a tandem flight.

The tourist lost his life in the incident while the pilot of the paraglider was safe.

The tourist who lost his life was identified as Suraj Sanjay Shah (30) of Shirval village in Maharashtra’s Satara district. He was on a visit to Manali with his friends.

Gurdev Sharma, the senior superintendent of police in Kullu said a case of negligence act has been registered under sections 336 and 304A of the IPC Act.

Earlier, several people either died or sustained injuries during tandem paragliding in Himachal Pradesh.

This year in January,  paragliding and several other adventure sports activities were banned by the Himachal Pradesh High court after the death of a 12-year-old boy from Bengaluru.

He had died due to an accident near Bir Billing paragliding site.
