Amit Shah gets his bulletproof shield removed in Srinagar, tells people ‘want to speak freely’ (VIDEO)

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah, on final day of his three-day visit in valley, got his bulletproof shield removed before addressing a huge public gathering in Srinagar.

The Home Minister told the gathering that he wanted to speak to people frankly & directly.

“I was taunted, condemned… Today I want to speak to you frankly, which is why there is neither bullet proof shield nor security here. I am standing before you like this,” said Amit Shah.

The video of security officials dismantling the security shield, at the directions of J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also landed on social media, drawing reactions from netizens.

Amit Shah’s visit to the valley is an attempt to boost the morale of security forces and also to send out a clear message to terrorists that their terror activities won’t be tolerated in the new regime. The Home Minister is also expected to spend the night with Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) troopers at the martyrs memorial in Pulwama district.

Shah’s swipe at Farooq Abdullah

The Home Minister also took swipe at NC leader Farooq Abdullah for his suggestions of initiating talks with Pakistan and in no uncertain terms, he asserted that government will talk to people of valley and not to terror exporting nation.

“Farooq (Abdullah) Sahab suggested we should speak to Pakistan but I want to make it clear to Farooq Sahab and to you – I will speak to the youth and the people of the Valley,” he said.

Home Minister to spend night at CRPF camp in J&K

According to reports, the Home Minister has extended his three-day visit to the valley & will spend the night at CRPF camp in Pulwama district. Shah will have dinner at the camp with the soldiers and will also stay at night there.

Earlier in the day, he offered prayers at Kheer Bhawani Durga temple in Ganderbal district.

Yesterday, the Home Minister visited forward areas at the Makwal border in Jammu and Kashmir with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and interacted with jawans and local residents.

Home Minister’s visit comes several incidents of killings of civilians by terrorists in Jammu & Kashmir. This is Amit Shah’s first visit to the valey since abrogation of abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019.
