How Atiq’s son Asad was shot dead: UP cops recreate encounter scene (WATCH)

Expensive, foreign-made Jigana pistols were recovered from Asad & Ghulam after their killing in police encounter.

New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh police on Tuesday recreated the encounter scene of mafia Atiq Ahmed’s son Asad & his aide Ghulam, to establish the sequence of events that led to their death in gunbattle with the cops.

In a video shared by a news agency, the UP cops could be seen on the same spot in Jhansi district, where the UP Police Special Task Force (UPSTF) had gunned down Asad & his associate Ghulam on April 13.

Gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed’s son Asad Ahmed was on the run ever since daylight murder of Umesh Pal and was intercepted by UPSTF on the Kanpur-Jhansi highway on April 13, while they were running for another shelter.

How encounter took place

The STF said that they tried to catch the duo alive but the criminals started firing, following which they retaliated, resulting in their death.

Asad & Ghulam were tracked by cops near Parichha dam at around 11.30 AM. When cops asked them to stop & surrender, they sped up their bike & entered some narrow lane. While trying to rush through the bushes, their bike crashed & they fell on the ground. The UP STF persuaded them to surrender but they started firing with foreign made pistols. The STF jawans retaliated & gunned them down after 30 minutes of gun battle.

Expensive, foreign-made Jigana pistols were recovered from Asad & Ghulam after their killing in encounter.

Both Asad & Ghulam had direct hand in killing of Umesh Pal, lawyer & eyewitness in Raju pal murder case. Both were absconding after killing Umesh Pal on February 24 in Prayagraj.

UP government has already set up a two-member judicial panel to investigate into the matter over charges of fake encounter by police. The panel has retired high court judge Rajeev Lochan Mehrotra snd retired director general Vijay Kumar Gupta as the members.
