New Delhi: The PAN card is the most important document of any individual living in a country. A PAN card is needed everywhere if you apply for a passport, a visa, job documents or even an Aadhar card. The one document that you will be asked for is a PAN card. A Permanent PAN card lets you have all your financial transactions easily. Today we will tell you how to apply for a PAN card online without struggling with different offices and documents.

Why is a PAN Card number important? 

Filing ITRs: A PAN card is needed if you want to file your income tax return or conduct any tax-related activities.

Opening a Bank Account: We will not be able to function without having a bank account. A Bank account is a must for working or non-working class. We keep our money safely in our bank accounts which enables us to make daily transactions and make our payments easier. You will need a PAN card to get a bank account open. Without a PAN your application for opening a bank account will get rejected by the authorities.

Applying for a Debit or Credit Card: A PAN card is mandatory if you are applying for a Debit or Credit card. Without a debit or a credit card you will not be able to make daily transactions.

How to apply for an E-PAN Card? 

In order to generate an E-PAN card you will need your Aadhar card number and a registered mobile number which is linked to your Aadhar card. To apply for a PAN online, you have two options, first is the NSDL portal and second is the UTIISL Portal. You can visit any of these portals and fill the form 49A. ( 4A is for Indian citizens and 49AA is for Non-Indian citizens)

 

Here are a few steps that you need to follow if you are applying for a PAN through NSD

  • First visit the NSDL portal and click on ‘Application type’
  • Now choose the type of application you want to submit
  • Select a category from the menu
  • Now fill you personal information carefully
  • Fill your email address or mobile number
  • Now pay the application fee using any mode ( through card or cash)

After the application is filled, you will receive acknowledgement number. Take a print out and keep it with you. Now paste a pass port size picture on the acknowledgement form. Sign this form with a black pen and mail it to the Income Tax department along with your documents.

Once your documents are verified your PAN card number will be sent to you on your registered mail. The same process can be followed if you want to apply for a PAN card using the UTIISL Portal. You can also refer to some of these videos to get an understanding of the steps in an easier way.
