New Delhi: If you have ever been the victim of cyber thugs or online harassment, then you should immediately file a complaint on helpline number 1930. Earlier the helpline number was 155260 but it has now been tweaked by the government for making it more user-friendly and easy & handy for use. With the help of Department of Telecommunication (DoT), the Union Ministry of Home Affairs will replace the existing number 155260 with 1930 in a phased manner. How to report cyber crime, file complaint on 1930 # Once you suspect any suspicious activity while doing online transaction, call up the helpline number and file a complaint. # You will receive a beep sound, following which a token will be generated. The cyber sleuths will begin to hunt for conspirators and once traced, they will freeze the defrauded amount. # If your money gets transferred to some other illicit handle or portal, the same process will keep on repeating till the amount is put on hold. # The person who filed a complaint regarding online crime will get an SMS about the initiation of inquiry. Your complaint and a reference number will be updated on website - www.cybercrime.gov.in, within 24 hours of flagging the issue. # As the complaint is formally received by cyber crime portal, police proceedings follow. Once traced, the money will be returned to victim's account and fraudster will be traced.
