IGI police crack immigration fraud, arrest 11 agents for hoodwinking people with foreign shore promise

The investigation into immigration fraud began on 2021 complaint of a BOI staff, who claimed that 4 passengers had approached them for immigration clearance. They intended to travel to Sri Lanka’s Colombo however, their passports looked doubtful.

New Delhi: A major immigration racket was busted at the capital’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport as the police team nabbed 11 agents including 3 notorious ones for duping & deceiving people with promise of sending them abroad.

The police team, in its week-long operation, have arrested more than 8 agents in 7 different cases of immigration fraud. The arrested agents also revealed their modus operandi on how they cheated & hoodwinked the air travelers with a promise of sending them to foreign shores.

Three notorious agents who were apprehended by IGI police include Anthony Patrick, Sabastian Mario & Dominic Joseph, all natives of Hyderabad. These agents used to arrange fake Czech Republic Visa stickers and had people from the rural background on their radar. They were facilitating these people in settling down in foreign country by unfair means.

How IGI police cracked case

The investigation into immigration fraud began on 2021 complaint of a BOI staff, who alleged that 4 passengers had approached for immigration clearance while they intended to travel to Sri Lanka’s Colombo however, their passport looked doubtful. Document scrutiny revealed that ‘D’ Czech Republic visa affixed to their passport looked doubtful.

After thorough scrutiny, it was found that the type ‘D’ Czech Republic visas were having distorted security features which further proved that the said visas were fake and counterfeit. An FIR was lodged against them based on complaints of immigration officials and detailed investigation launched.

A team led by Insp. Raj Kumar, HC Mahender, HC Surender, along with Inspr. Yashpal Singh SHO/ IGI Airport under the supervision of Virender Mor, ACP/IGI Airport took up the investigation and rounded up many agents & touts to unearth their ways of defrauding gullible travelers.

The team carried out electronic surveillance of accused agents and nabbed them with evidence.

Apart from these 3 agents, the cops have also apprehended 8 other agents in 7 different cases in the last 10 days.
