IIT Delhi student Ashraf Nawaz Khan dies, Ankur Shukla sustained injuries after being hit by a car

New Delhi:  One died, and another was injured after being hit by a car while crossing the road near SDA market opposite IIT Delhi, on Tuesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Ashraf Nawaz Khan and injured Ankur Shukla, who are Ph.D. students at IIT.

The car was found abandoned at a distance from the accident site.

Police said the driver has been identified. A case has also been registered by the Police.

According to the Deputy police commissioner (south-west) Manoj C said the incident was reported at 11:15pm. Soon after the incident, both of them were rushed to the Safdarjung Hospital.

He said both of them were critical before Ashraf Nawaz Khan succumbed to his injuries.

Meanwhile, 29-year-old Ankur Shukla is currently undergoing treatment at Max Hospital in Saket. He suffered a fracture on his leg.

Police said the search is underway to nab the driver.

Also,  police are checking CCTV footage that was recovered from the incident spot.
