New Delhi:  The Congress Punjab in-charge Harish Rawat has now apologized after he courted controversy by referring to the party’s Punjab leadership as ‘Panj Pyare’. Rawat addressed the  Navjot Singh Sidhu and four working presidents as ‘Panj Pyare to which Akali Dal lodged an objection.

Apologising for the comment Harish Rawat said, I used that word (Panj Pyare) as a reference for a respected person. Still, if my words hurt feelings of any person, I apologize & take my words back. For atonement, I’ll sweep the floors of a Gurudwara in my state (Uttarakhand).

Rawar arrived in Chandigarh on Tuesday to solve the ongoing rift in the Congress’s state unit, where he said, t was my responsibility to discuss with the PCC chief, his team & our “Panj Pyare”(Navjot Singh Sidhu+ 4 working presidents). Sidhu has told me that the discussions over polls, organizational structure will be geared up… Rest assured, PCC is working.
