In a first, Chhattisgarh govt sets up quarantine centre for pregnant women

This follows the instructions of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and special endeavour of Health Minister TS Singh Deo, who went an extra mile to set up dedicated centre.

New Delhi: At a time, when the whole country is putting up a united fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, Chhattisgarh government has gone a step ahead to ensure better safety mechanism for pregnant women.

Making extra effort to provide better healthcare and medical facilities to pregnant women in such difficult times of Covid-19, Bhupesh Baghel government has prepared special quarantine centres dedicated to expecting mothers.

The centre for pregnant women has come up in Kesla village in Bilaspur district. The women housed there get necessary medical facilities, with female doctors and nurses in attendance.

With this initiative, Chhattisgarh has become the first state to develop quarantine centre exclusively for women.

This follows the instructions of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and special endeavour of Health Minister TS Singh Deo, who went an extra mile to set up dedicated centre. Health Minister has made it a point to personally monitor the functioning of centre and ensure that all requirements are fulfilled.

CM Baghel was of the view that special quarantine centres should be set up for pregnant mothers, children and senior citizens, a senior official said.


Nutritional food, screening facilities and protective gear are available at the centre, which is sanitized three times a day. A medical personnel has been deployed round the clock for regular health check-ups and other medical assistance as and when needed by quarantine centre residents.
