New Delhi: The shameless face of Chhattisgarh Police came to fore when it refused to lodge an FIR on girl’s father’s complaint as the minor was brutalized by 7 beasts.
The father attempted suicide as he couldn’t get the police to lodge FIR and investigate the case but survived. It was only then the police swung into action.
According to reports, the teenager had gone to some wedding function at a neigbouring village where she was forcibly taken to a forest and raped for several hours.
“As per preliminary information, the girl had gone to attend a relative’s wedding at a neighbouring village when she was taken to a nearby forest by two drunken men. There, five others joined them and she was raped for several hours,” Bastar range IG P Sundarraj was quoted as saying by Times of India.
She returned back to village early without her parents and committed suicide on July 20.
The victim told her friends about the incident and said that the accused had threatened to kill her if she revealed it to anyone.
Quoting Bastar range IG P Sunderraj, the portal reported that the minor victim’s body has been exhumed for post-mortem.
Meanwhile, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights chairperson Yashwant Jain has written to senior police officials in Kondangaon, asking them to act against the local SHO for not filing FIR in the case earlier.
