In Rajasthan’s Kota, no posters of The Kashmir Files at theatres; movie goers suspect ‘foul play’

The movie is being shown here in 4 theatres & all of them are running houseful. But, what’s surprising is that posters & banners of this movie are missing from all these theatres.

New Delhi: Vivek Agnihotri directorial ‘The Kashmir Files’ is going great guns ever since it hit the theatres this Friday. Theatres & multiplexes are running jam-packed as people are thronging in large numbers to watch the movie.

The outpouring of cine-goers has also sent the cash registers ringing at the Box Office. Owing to brilliant response from audience, the screens showing movie has also been increased.

However, a rare incident in Kota district of Rajasthan has raised eyebrows. The movie is being shown here in 4 theatres & all of them are running houseful. But, what’s surprising is that posters & banners of this movie are missing from all these theatres.

A couple of movie goers said that it is difficult to fathom why posters are not on display.

Girish Mahavar, a Kota resident who went to watch movie at a leading multiplex on Day 1, said, “We go to halls to watch movie with family and often get selfie clicked with the movie posters. We wanted to see what transpired in the valley in 1990s and what led to exodus of Kashmiri Pandits. But, nowhere we could spot a poster of the movie. We found this very strange.”

Another family visiting a cineplex recited the same opinion. Sanjay Suman, a local resident said it looked like a clever & planned strategy by ‘movie mafia’ to control promotion of the movie.

“We can’t click pictures inside hall and there are no posters of movie outside. So, we can’t share our pictures with movie on social media,” he said, suspecting conspiracy in the entire episode.

Another set of audience claimed that they were told by the multiplexes that they didn’t receive the posters from filmmakers.

“But, why it’s the case with Kashmir Files only. Poster of movies like Badhai Do, which released on Feb 11 and Coming Soon are available but none from the Kashmir Files. There is something fishy going on,” Anand said.
