New Delhi: In a shocking case of ‘ill-treatment’ of people in the fight against Coronavirus, a video is going viral on social media, where the municipal workers are seen spraying disinfectants on people, standing in a queue to purchase liquor.
The incident happened in Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu. As people stood in long queues stretching over kilometers, social distancing was last thing on people’s mind. This is when the municipal workers stepped in and started spraying disinfectants on those standing in queue outside the liquor shops.
According to eyewitnesses, people were repeatedly requested and asked to maintain social distancing but they didn’t pay any heed.

Speaking on the incident, Cuddalore district collector admitted the wrongdoing, however said that it didn’t have the approval of the district administration.
“Disinfectant spraying happened for 5 minutes and they were asked to stop spraying it when it brought to the notice of higher officials,” said Cuddalore DC.
He also told the press that directions have been given to take necessary action against those who did it.
