New Delhi: In a big breaking development, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC)’s offices in Delhi & Mumbai was on Tuesday ‘raided’ by Income Tax officials. A team of about 60-70 I-T officials are conducting survey at both the offices of BBC for alleged tax evasion, said TV reports.

It may be noted that the British news agency came under fire from all corners, after it came up two-series documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public life, focussing around Godhra & post-Godhra riots.

The documentary sought to rake up fresh controversy over then BJP government’s alleged complicity in the riots that engulfed the state after Godhra carnage.

The controversial series were latched on by a couple of Opposition parties & Modi’s baiters, who went on to urge people to watch it for getting ‘truthful insight’ into 2002 riots. On the other hand, BJP launched a tirade against the BBC & its sympathisers for raking up a matter that was settled by the highest court of land.

It may be noted that Supreme Court gave a clean chit to then Modi government in Gujarat and didn’t hold it guilty or accountable by any means, despite the Opposition firing salvos and making direct accusations at Narendra Modi for many years.

Also, BBC’s reporting failed to find any endorsement from own UK PM Rishi Sunak. While referring to the documentary in UK Parliament, the British PM disssociated himself & the government from the documentary, despite the news organisation being a state-sponsored agency.
