India to vaccinate all by December 2021, says Javadekar after Rahul Gandhi’s jibe

Union Minister also denounced Rahul Gandhi for his language against the Prime Minister and also said that the way he tried to stoke fears on COVID-19 confirms that Congress is behind toolkit.

New Delhi: Union minister Prakash Javadekar on Friday reiterated that all Indians will be vaccinated against deadly Covid virus by the end of this year. He also said that the Health Ministry has given a roadmap for producing/acquiring 216 crore vaccine doses by them.

“The health ministry last week made it clear that within December the nation will produce 216 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccines which means that at least 108 crore people will be able to get their jabs. So, Rahul Gandhi should understand that India will vaccinate all by December 2021,” Javadekar said during a press conference.

Last week, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan had said that India will be in a position to vaccinate at least all of its adult population by the end of 2021.

Slamming Gandhi for his comments on PM Modi, Union Minister said that the language used by Rahul Gandhi and the way he tried to stoke fears on COVID-19 confirms that Congress is behind toolkit.

Earlier, in the day, Rahul Gandhi lashed out at Centre and pinned the blame on Prime Minister for devastating spread of Covid-19 in 2nd wave.

“India has vaccinated 3 per cent people so far, 97 per cent can get COVID. The government has left the door open for disease,” he said.

“The problem is that there is no (vaccination) strategy. The Prime Minister doesn’t think strategically. He is an event manager, he thinks one event at a time. If he wants something he suddenly makes an event for it to happen. We don’t need events now, evets are going to kill people. we need a strategy. The aim of the strategy should be should space down for Corona. The more time and space you leave for the virus, the more dangerous it becomes,” Gandhi said during a press conference.
