Indian Youth Cong passes resolution again for elevating Rahul as AICC prez but will ‘reluctant prince’ take charge?

It’s not the first time that the IYC has passed a similar resolution. Ever since Rahul quit the Congress chief post after 2019 Lok Sabha elections debacle, the youth wing of Congress has been batting for Rahul’s promotion as party chief.

New Delhi: The Indian Youth Congress (IYC) on Monday passed a resolution demanding Rahul Gandhi be made Congress president again.

The resolution, calling for unanimous elevation of Rahul Gandhi, was passed on second day of the national executive meeting of the IYC. IYC national president Srinivas BV and National In-charge Krishna Allavaru were presiding over the meeting.

However, it’s not the first time that the IYC has passed a similar resolution. Ever since Rahul quit the Congress chief post after 2019 Lok Sabha elections debacle, the youth wing of Congress has been batting for Rahul’s promotion as party chief.

A similar resolution to appoint Rahul Gandhi as Congress president was passed by the IYC on March 8, this year. This was shared by Srinivas BV himself while another similar proposal came last year.

Last year, on 23rd August 2020, the IYC had reportedly made similar demand. A screenshot of Srinivas BV’s tweet shows the resolution passed by youth Congress, demanding top role for Rahul Gandhi in the party.

Delhi & Ch’garh PCCs have passed similar resolutions

Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee and Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee have also passed similar resolutions demanding that Rahul Gandhi be made the party chief again.

Notably, Sonia Gandhi has been serving as the interim president of the Congress party.

How netizens reacted

After the resolutions appeared on social media, people took turns to take jibe at Congress party. Here is how they reacted.
