India’s first solar mission Aditya-L1 launched successfully, how jubilant netizens reacted

Aditya L1’s purpose is to observe the solar corona from afar and the solar wind up close at L1 (the Sun-Earth Lagrangian point), which is around 1.5 million kilometres from Earth.

New Delhi: On Saturday, September 2, 2023, ISRO’s first solar mission, Aditya-L1, lifted out from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. This brought India one step closer to successfully completing its first mission to the Sun. The Aditya L1 mission will be carried on a 125-day journey to the Sun on ISRO’s reliable PSLV rocket.

Today’s launch was conducted at 11:50 a.m. from Sriharikota’s Satish Dhawan Space Centre.

Aditya L1’s purpose is to observe the solar corona from afar and the solar wind up close at L1 (the Sun-Earth Lagrangian point), which is around 1.5 million kilometres from Earth.

ISRO used Twitter to announce that Aditya-L1 has been successfully launched from PSLV-C57.

In order to monitor solar activity for five years, ISRO’s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) will carry Aditya-L1 with seven payloads. The primary goal of the project is to increase our understanding of the Sun and its effects on Earth, including radiation, heat, particle transport, and magnetic fields.

As per ISRO, the first EarthBound fire to increase the orbit will take place at roughly 11:45 Hrs. IST on September 3, 2023.

For 16 days, the Aditya L1 spacecraft will circle the planet. The spacecraft will reach its destination of L1 in halo orbit around the Sun after a four-month voyage.

Netizens on social media rejoiced at the news of the successful launch of the Aditya-L1, having eagerly waited for the success of the mission.

After the successful launch of the Aditya L1 solar mission on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated ISRO and remarked,

“After the success of Chandrayaan-3, India continues its space journey.

Congratulations to our scientists and engineers at

@isro

for the successful launch of India’s first Solar Mission, Aditya -L1.

Our tireless scientific efforts will continue in order to develop better understanding of the Universe for the welfare of entire humanity.”
