New Delhi: A Delhi-based Bhojpuri film actress has lodged an FIR against her internet friend for allegedly raping her in a hotel room.
As per the actress, the stranger, whom she befriended on Instagram told her to meet him in a hotel in Haryana’s Gurugram for an interview where he got drunk and raped her.
Later, Gurugram police in their official statement revealed that the accused has been identified as Manish Pandey who is a resident of Gurugram’s Chakkarpur area.
The Police further told that as per the victim’s statement, Mahesh first won her trust by promising to get her work in an upcoming Bhojpuri movie. He then called her in to meet him for an interview regarding the movie at a Gurugram-based hotel on 29 June.
“When the actress arrived in the hotel room, Mahesh started asking her some questions and even started drinking alcohol. When she told him that she needs to go Mahesh started misbehaving with her and eventually raped her”, police added in their statement.

The report further revealed that after raping the actress, Manoj even gave her death threats and told her not to tell about the incident to anyone.
On being asked if the accused has been arrested or not, ACP Varun Dahiya said that the investigation in the case is underway. He further told that the police have registered a case under Sections 376, 506, 509 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code based on the actress’s complaint.
