New Delhi: Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), the popular platform for booking Railway tickets is down, due to some technical glitch. This has inconvenienced thousands of train commuters who visit the portal for booking train tickets.
Many of them took to express their disappointment over the glitch taking town Railway’s portal while others mocked the Railways for not being able to manage a seamless portal.
The IRCTC portal is down for quite sometime now. It reportedly happened during Tatkal ticket booking time when thousands of commuters take to IRCTC portal to book their tickets.
Initially, the IRCTC was reluctant to accept the outage but when several users shared screenshots of error messages, it took note of this and acknowledged the problem. It also assured users that the portal will be back soon after fixing the technical glitch.

What’s strange is that the IRCTC officials are now suggesting users to use other platforms, rather than relying on its services. They reportedly asked users to use platforms like Amazon, MakeMyTrip, and other B2B players for booking train tickets.
This disorder in the IRCTC portal prompted users to share memes & jokes on the social media.
