ISKCON bans monk Amogh Lila Das for 1 month, for ‘unacceptable’ remarks on Swami Vivekananda (VIDEO)

A video of Amogh Lila Das, where he purportedly insulted India’s two great saints is circulating on social media. In the video, he can be heard asking questions on consumption of fish by Swami Vivekanand, during one of his ‘pravachan.’

New Delhi: The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) on Tuesday banned Amogh Lila Das, one of its Brahmachari monks from Dwarka region for making derogatory & snide remarks on India’s most revered saintly figures including Sri Ramkrishna Paramahansa and Swami Vivekananda.

“ISKCON is very much pained by his totally inappropriate & unacceptable remarks and his lack of understanding about the great teachings of these two personalities,” the religious body said in a statement.

The ISKCON imposed a ban of one month on monk Amogh Lila Das for his unsavoury remarks on the most revered figures in Indian history & spirituality.

“Will a virtuous man ever eat fish? A fish also feels pain, right?” Amogh Lila Das says while addressing a gathering. He also took a swipe at Swami Vivekananda’s guru & Ramakrishna Paramhans in the same session.

His comments was spotted & questioned by many netizens, following which the ISKCON came forward and handed him a one month ban.

Amogh Lila Das is a popular spiritual speaker and his videos get good traction on the social media.

The ISKCON informed that Amogh Lila Das has “begged for forgiveness for his comments” and has “taken a vow to go on ‘prayaschit’ (atonement) for one month in the hills of Govardhan”.

During this period, he will have to seclude himself from public life completely.
