Jailed AAP leader Satyendra Jain granted interim bail on medical grounds

As Satyendra Jain got hospitalized, AAP launched a scathing attack on the Centre and accused it of harassing & ruining his health for political gains.

New Delhi: Former Delhi minister & Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Satyendra Jain was granted interim bail by the Supreme Court on Friday, on medical grounds.

The jailed AAP leader has been given six weeks bail, a day after he reportedly fainted inside the bathroom of Tihar central jail. He was subsequently admitted to Deen Dayal hospital and then shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). He was later shifted to ICU ward of LNJP hospital and was put on oxygen support.

While granting him interim bail, the Apex court has also imposed certain restrictions. The court has restrained him from travelling abroad without due permission and also stated that the AAP neta imprisoned in corruption case can’t make any statements to media.

It however allowed him to undergo treatment at any hospital of his choice.

In the latest pictures that surfaced, the former Delhi Minister looked weak & frail. He also submitted in court sometime back that he lost more than 35 kg weight in last couple of months due to poor health.

As Satyendra Jain got hospitalized, AAP launched a scathing attack on the Centre and accused it of harassing & ruining his health for political gains.

It also said that Jain’s health was on constant decline in Tihar jail and this has led to multiple complications for him including spinal injury, chronic back pain & muscular atrophy.

Jain, part of top-rung AAP leadership was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in May 2022 for alleged laundering money through shell companies and buying land with illicit funds.

Though, he denied all the allegations & charges against him but didn’t get any relief from the courts.
Satyendra Jain was second most high-profile minister in Arvind Kejriwal cabinet. During his tenure as minister, he held many portfolios including health, home and urban development.
