New Delhi: A Special Police Officer (SPO) and his wife were shot dead by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Sunday. The terrorists barged into the house of SPO Fayaz Ahmad and started indiscriminate firing inside the house. He & his wife were killed in firing while their daughter sustained critical injuries in the attack.
They were rushed to a local hospital where the SPO and his wife Raja Begum succumbed to injuries. Their daughter Rafia was shifted to a hospital here for treatment. She also succumbed to her injuries later in a hospital this morning.
“Later, Ahmad’s wife also succumbed to injuries at a hospital after terrorists fired at them inside their house in Awantipora, Pulwama,” said the Kashmir zone police.

Meanwhile, the security forces have cordoned off and launched search operation to track down the assailants.
Mehbooba condemns killing
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti has strongly condemned terror attack in Awantipora.
“No words are strong enough to condemn the cowardly attack in Awantipora that claimed the lives of a Jammu and Kashmir Police officer Fayaz Ahmed, his wife and daughter. May Allah Ta’aala grants them maghfirat and their loved ones the fortitude to bear this loss,” said Mufti in a tweet.
Former SPO and his wife were laid to rest today, police said.
