New Delhi: Sher Mohammad, a 118-year-old man from Mohar district of Jammu and Kashmir set an example for others by getting himself vaccinated against the Covid-19. After taking the vaccine shot, he also appealed to fellow citizens to get vaccinated at the earliest.

He said, ‘After getting the covid-19 vaccine, my confidence has increased and I feel more secure because the vaccine is the biggest shield against this deadly disease.’

People should not pay heed to rumors about vaccine effects and should get vaccinated as soon as possible, Mohammed added.

‘If I can get vaccinated at this age, then I think others should not hesitate to get vaccinated’, he further said.

Reasi Deputy Commissioner Charandeep Singh said that he is constantly appealing to the people for cooperation to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection. He said that the district administration has recently taken several steps to expedite the vaccination process.

Centenarian Sher Mohammad is not the only one to get vaccinated against the deadly disease. Many others like him have come forward, showing the way to the younger generation.

In Udhampur, 90-year-old Thakri Devi took the jab after beating Coronavirus in the first wave. She was reportedly the first person above 90 years to take the jab in valley. Soon after her, news of 120-year-old Dholi Devi of the same district earned attention for taking the dose.

96-year-old Badrinath Sharma also got inoculated and encouraged fellow villagers to come forward, abandon their hesitation and join the drive against Coronavirus.
Meanwhile, the state authorities have involved Panchayat members and religious leaders also to ensure maximum vaccination in their respective areas.
